There’s been so much happening at the studio that I haven’t had time to post new work to the website. This is a really good problem to have in my line of work! But I’ve had the pleasure of working on some really fun things this year, and here is one of my favorites.
Design meets DIY. Not only did Bird Dog Wedding commission me for the Love Bash poster and flyer, but I also got to try my hand at some hand painted signage. I had been looking for an excuse to try this! Working with these girls is so much fun, because they love color, they jump at fresh ideas, and they work so dang hard.
So for the signage… I convinced my cooperative husband to help me cut out the signs from wood. My vision: free standing banners like the ones you see in a lot of print design these days. I drew them out, and Chris cut them down, drilled holes, sanded them, and then passed the torch to me. What did I do next? Pink-washed them. Duh.
Next, I taped off the straight lines, so they would be perfect. This was a a challenge, cause the diagonal banners started to play tricks on me once they were painted pink. My rational pencil lines were nowhere to be seen.
I was so excited with how they turned out! It was super fun to work on and even more fun to see them in the wild. Thanks to Taylor Lord Photography for doing them justice with such great photos.
